Figure. Red-filled circles- Teuthowenia megalops; yellow-filled triangles- Teuthowenia maculata. T. megalops occupies the subarctic and north temperate regions of the North Atlantic. T. maculata occupies the tropical Eastern Atlantic and, especially the Mauritanian Upwelling Region off the eastern buldge of Africa.
