Oh my goodness! Unless you are a Tree of Life developer,
you really shouldn't be here. This page is part of our beta test site, where we
develop new features for the ToL, often messing up a thing or two in the
process. Please visit the official version of this page, which is available
here.
- Small club sucker:
Figure. Left - Oral view of sucker from the distal, ventral region of the manus of N. nesisi, detached tentacle, presumably holotype. Shows an elliptical orifice although the outer ring is more circular. Note also: laterally placed large pegs on the outer ring, two concentric rings of plates with pegs on outer ring. Middle - Oral view of a portion of the manus, light photomicrograph, same club, same region as adjacent SEM photographs, showing the proximal manus with suckers that are laterally compressed. Right - Oral view of the inner ring (outer ring dissected away) of a sucker from the middle of the manus, same club, showing strong lateral-compression.
- Large club sucker:
Figure. Large dactylus-sucker from the ventromedial series, fourth transverse series from the proximal end of the dactylus of N. nesisi. Left - Oral view. Right - Oblique side view. This sucker shows long, slender teeth around the margin of the inner ring. The outer ring shows evidence of medial lobes on the distal portion of the sucker.
- Large arm sucker:
Figure. Large arm sucker (sucker 12, arm III) of N. nesisi, holotype. Left - Oral view. Right - Oblique side view. Sucker shows a completely smooth margin on the inner ring.
