Amphilina japonica
Klaus RohdeIntroduction
The species is distributed in the Amur region, Japan and North America. Its hosts are Acipenser schrencki and Huso dauricus in the Amur region, Acipenser medirostris (= A. mikadoi) in Japan, and Acipenser medirostris in North America. It resembles A. foliacea closely except for slight differences in the position of gonoducts and testes follicles. Future studies may well show that the two "species" should rather be considered as different subspecies of A. foliacea. The North-American form has been described as a separate species, A. bipunctata, but it is more or less identical with A. japonica. Specimens of A. japonica reach a length of 73 mm and a width of 25 mm.
