Introduction

Rhyzoarca is a small subgenus with four species from Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia.

Characteristics

Tufts of minor setae are present on antennal segments VII-X. Clypeal setae are absent. The eyes are entire and crescentic. Temporal, pronotal, and elytral setae are entirely absent. The pronotum is relatively broad. The outer carinae are relatively broad, broadest at the middle. The median groove is obsolete or nearly so. The inner carinae are together narrower than one outer carina. Marginal and submarginal grooves are absent. Intercalary stria are absent. The median metasternal sulcus is absent. The lateral pits on the female's sternum IV are slightly enlarged. The male has a ventral tooth on the anterior femur.
